before the start of the culling games, azumi was once the face of a primetime; a charismatic show host that was broadcasted into every household in japan. she was in every form of media, from movies to sitcoms. she was a genius at her craft, giving audiences what they wanted before they even realized it themselves. at her peak, she was untouchable. as time went on, however, the world around her began to feel artificial conversations off-camera felt as rehearsed as the ones on camera. the gift that had made her extraordinary as an entertainer had made her a stranger to her own life. she turned to substances to add a twist to her monotonous life. even as she unraveled, azumi's performances only became more vibrant, all to uphold her role of japan's favorite and hide her dwindling motivation. overwhelmed by the emptiness she could no longer disguise, azumi overdosed. only to be reawakened as a vessel for 'kimori', who decided to completely adopt their persona to provide herself a veil that her opponets would lower themselves to approach. after all, who wouldn't trust japan's renowned actress?kimori, unlike her vessel, prefers to operate in silence. a sorcerer that was once a kunoichi in the sengoku period, she's unreadable, stoic and eerily calm in tense situations. even when wearing azumi's mask, she rarely ever breaks the facade. to her, the self is a tool to be managed rather than expressed.
